STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS?

Due to some bunions I decided to pull the trigger on custom fit Mountain Hunter SuperWides. James was very helpful on the three calls that we had, and my boots arrived within a couple of weeks. I was surprised that he recommended a much larger boot than i would have requested, but he assured me that once he got done with the insoles that they would fit perfectly and explained why. And he was correct, they fit perfect.
After a couple light days around the house and training dogs, I strapped them on for a five mile hike with a weighted pack. Zero issues, no hot spots, no blisters.
I only expect them to improve as i wear them more and even though it was expensive i think we got it right the first time.

This is unlike any experience I’ve ever had with getting fit for a pair of boots. Lathrop and Sons are on another level when it comes to designing and fitting you with the proper boot. I just received my custom fit pair of Mountain Hunters and I’m currently going through the break in period which was explained to me very thoroughly after discussing how my boot fit. So far I’m very pleased with my purchase. I will follow up when I put these bad boys to use chasing some thunder chickens. TREAD HEAVY!

I had the unique opportunity to rifle hunt for a bull elk in north central New Mexico, with Freedom Outfitters. This hunt, on private land, was a dream of mine after several failed attempts to get drawn. As I prepared for the hunt, it was obvious my old boots would not make the grade for the terrain and mileage we would hunt. I contacted Stephen, built a pair of size 16 boots for my old, worn feet, and what a difference they made! No foot pain, no blisters, and they were exactly what I needed. Thanks to the entire team for a spectacular boot, insoles, and everything attended to so I had the boots with plenty of time to train and break them in. I couldn’t recommend the boots any stronger! I will have another pair! Had a wonderful hunt, harvested a fantastic bull, and was blessed by some beautiful country!

Several years ago, I purchased a pair of Lathrop & Sons custom boots before heading out on a Bighorn Sheep hunt in Wyoming. At first, they seemed to fit well, but once I got into the mountains, I started having issues — my big toenails would turn black from rubbing on the inside of the boots. I kept trying to make them work on multiple hunts—upland bird, elk, deer, and antelope—but every time I wore them, my feet ended up sore.

After letting them sit for about a year, I got an email from Lathrop & Sons about some of their products. I figured, what the heck, I’ll reach out—even though it had been a couple of years since I bought the boots. Honestly, I didn’t expect a reply.

To my surprise, Morgan got back to me almost immediately. He sent out a new foot-mapping kit and started the process of refitting me for a different pair of boots. I mailed the old boots and mapping kit back, and as it turned out, my original pair was just a bit too small. I never did have the original follow-up fitting call (which probably would have solved the issue early on), but that was no fault of theirs—just something that got missed.

Once my new foot maps were reviewed, Lathrop & Sons sent me a brand-new pair of boots, no hassle at all. We went through the final fitting process carefully before I broke them in for the season.

Now, after several years and many hunts later, I can confidently say these are the best boots I’ve ever owned. The comfort, performance, and quality are second to none. What really stands out, though, is their incredible customer service. Morgan went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of—even years after my original purchase.

I’m extremely thankful I decided to reach out, and even more thankful that Morgan responded. I could have easily ended up disappointed, but instead, I’m now one of their biggest supporters. Lathrop & Sons truly stands behind their products and their customers.
