• Boot Last - European lasts are known for their ability to accomodate an array of feet. This specific last features a generous amount of volume in the forefoot and a very narrow heel.
• Lacing system and hardware - Hanwag's unique lacing system utilizes heavy duty free floating hardware, which locks the rearfoot into a fixed achilles horseshoe pad, thus preventing slippage and blistering in the heel area. This technical lacing system allows the wearer to actually customize their fit, while also enhancing the comfort level during use.
• Leather upper - The premium leather requires minimal break-in. This one piece pre-waxed 2.5mm upper provides exceptional protection and stability in the harshest environments.
• Over-the-toe Rand - This hand laid pebbled rand protects the boot's upper from scree and shale. The rand also contributes added strength to the upper and increased stability when traversing mountainous terrain.
• Full gloveskin leather tongue and collar - Each is perforated to enhance breathability and unsurpassed comfort levels through a unique impact air transfer system.
• Removable footbed - Stock full length footbed can be easily removed during drying. The removable footbed ensures the required depth needed to utilize the Lathrop & Sons customized High Country Footbed.
• Gore/Duratherm liner - This liner offers a superior moisture management factor over even that of Gore-Tex itself. Therein producing a more comfortable experience for the wearer.
• Full length shank - The nylon shank flows from the heel to the toe creating a very rigid yet functional platform. The shank also adds torsional stability and reduces boot collapse while ascending and descending mountainous terrain.
• Crepe midsole - The crepe midsole, while offering excellent heel height and ample toe spring to assist in forward propulsion, adds substantial rigidity to the foundation. Due in fact that crepe has a much higher durometer that resists compression.
• Vibram Kletterlift outsole - Hardened rubber coupled with agressive cleating allows the wearer to confidently traverse rugged terrain. This sole also has an exceptional abrasion resistance.
